The entry showcased Infinity’s highly resilient data centre blueprint which optimises efficiency within the urban environment.

Designed for a specific financial services client, Infinity’s entry overcame the challenges of providing efficiency in an urban location. It is common place for financial services systems to require short fibre distances to allow synchronous data base replication. The blueprint used tried and tested technologies in new configurations to challenge existing practices in order to meet the exacting requirements for resiliency and efficiency. The newly created role comes at a time when Infinity aims to reinforce its brand presence, positioning and product strategies in order to accelerate its path towards significant market share in the UK. Stevens reported to the chief operating officer, and had global responsibility for product management, cost of sale and marketing.

In previous roles, Stevens has held executive positions at British Telecom North America, Concert Communications, TANDBERG and THUS plc, and has significant experience of leading business restructure during growth, acquisition and periods of integration.

Specialist data centre operator, Infinity, today announced the appointment of Ian McKenzie as the Company’s new Chairman. A seasoned professional, McKenzie has a wealth of over 40 years of international experience in the telecommunications and broadcast industry which includes roles such as COO for Asia Pacific with British Telecom, Non-Executive Chairman at Multicom Security AB and GTS Central Europe, Non Executive Director of the UK-based Daisy Group plc. and Senior Advisor to GMT Communications Partners LLP. As part of its major expansion programme, Infinity has attracted one of the industry’s renowned experts onto its senior management team. John Belton, a former executive director at mechanical and electrical engineering consultancy Hurley Palmer Flatt is to join Infinity to head its delivery organisation and manage Infinity’s £500 million capital program over the next three years.

Belton joins Infinity after 10 years at Hurley Palmer Flatt having set up its office in Canary Wharf, London, to exploit his expertise in trading floor and data centre design. During that time he has delivered a wide range of projects for many clients worldwide including the one million square feet Barclays headquarters in Canary Wharf and a number of LEED Gold and Platinum projects.

Belton will champion Infinity’s best practice delivery programme to bring state of the art data centres to life for Infinity’s customers and to consolidate their position as the market leader for exacting standards of delivery.
